Unity for service
Exchange is a group of men and women working to make America a better place
to live through
one national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse, and other community service
projects.

HISTORY OF EXCHANGE
The history of the organization dates back to the late 1800s when a group of businessmen
began meeting for lunch in Detroit to exchange business leads and information.
When the club formally organized in 1911, the name Exchange was chosen because
of this "exchange" of information. Exchange became a national organization in
1917 and established its headquarters in Toledo, Ohio.
Throughout the years, Exchangites have served their communities in important
ways, including participation in aviation projects, a National Recovery Crusade
following the Great Depression, youth projects, community service efforts and
Americanization programs. In 1979, Child Abuse Prevention was adopted as Exchange's
national project. Through numerous local child abuse prevention centers and
the publishing and distribution of various educational materials, tens of thousands
of parents and children have learned how to eliminate child abuse from their
lives.
